The Adventure Continues!

Here's another process post on the last thing I finished. Super motivated since NYCC is right around the corner. Hoping to finish a bunch of new stuff before then.

Kids with Swords

I don't know why I love the idea of modern looking kids with ancient looking, demonic weapons.

I did this sketch a few weeks ago and really liked it, but I wanted to make it MORE than it was already. I dragged and dropped into into a photoshop file and did that.

Here's the rest of the process:

Staying Busy

So, I graduated six months ago and I've been frantically working on both Comic Pages and other stuff with Charlie. I'm gonna be trying to post more often on here as well as all of my other social media.

Here is a link to Charlie's and I webcomic tumblr: We are going to be posting new stuff there hopefully very often.

Also, in the last few months Charlie and I have been sending out pitches to the major independent publishers for the book we are trying to get off the ground. All the pages we had done before are being redone, and things look...hopeful? We stay positive.

You can check out the pages we've done here:

Keep a look out for us on the shelves in the future!

Behance

I've put a few process things up on Behance. I really like the format of the site. The more views I get there, the more likely someone who wants to give me a job will see it. So help a guy out!

Improvement through Hardwork

We had to make a postcard to send out to potential employers as a requirement for our marketing class. I really wanted to redo this piece that I did for a "figure in motion" project almost exactly a year ago. And the results are pretty nice.

This was the original piece. It's not awful, but it's definitely student level work. The motion is there, the composition could be worse, and I really did like the teeth and tongue on the bottom (as a sketch).

But there are some obvious issues here. Her anatomy really wasn't figured out, the drawing is sloppy, and that yellow spaghetti mess was supposed to be a lightning bolt. But I really did like the drawing, and I knew I could do it better now.

I changed some obvious things like the outfit and the sword, and the colors are WAY more saturated, but that's mostly how I work now. This is a huge improvement from the original, and it took me probably half the the time.

This is really attributed to the fact that from the time I did the original to now, I really haven't stopped working on my stuff. Over the summer, after junior year, I really didn't think my work was going to be at a senior level. I felt like I was going to fall behind the rest of my class, so I spent a lot of time watching tutorials and drawing all the time.

For the last 3 months I've been working on my thesis. Basically drawing, inking, and coloring every single day. I've learned a lot in a short time, and I attribute that to the fact that I've been working hard and always pushing myself to make things better and better. There's no easy way around getting better, besides just working at it everyday.

Inktober

I've been participating in Inktober this month, as are many of my classmates. Between class, work, finishing my 24 hour comic (which I'll post later), and all the other stuff, I've been having less and less time each day to do these little doodles.

I mean, it's all practice in good fun. Not like I'm planning on getting a gig off an Inktober sketch.
I just think if I had more time for one, the quality would go way up.

Anyway, here's a dump of all my Inktober sketches so far.

This one is by far the best, but it was a sketch I did for a much bigger project, so I took my time on it.

A couple of these I did on notecards, which I think is hilarious in itself.

Post Overload

So here is allllll the stuff I've been doing lately.

All this stuff has actually since been inked, which means I have to scan it again anyway.

This I did a bit ago, but I'm not content with him just floating there. I have an idea for a background, I just have to get around to it.

Both of these were done super recently after I attained some new photoshop brushes. Testin' em out.

Finally bothered to try the lasso/airbrush. I think it'll look nicer if I had something smaller to work with.
