Milestones
Sometimes the end result of a piece isn't based on what skill you had going in,
but what you learned while doing it.

Comic Preview
Me and my roommate have been working on something for a while now, heres a first preview of it.
Colors by me, Pencils by Charlie
SOI Finished Piece
I think it's important to view work with heavy foreground elements in black and white so you can compare the foreground to the background and make sure that they separate. I also had to make sure that the colored version wasn't too dark in the foreground, otherwise I would lose a lot of the information.

SOI Submission Progress
For Senior Studio we are actually making a project out of our SOI submissions. I'm working on the colors right now, so the final will be posted next week.
Figured I'd post my process so far.
Original Sketch |
Here is my original sketch that came from my thumbnail, which had the basic principle. The hand giant robot hand in the foreground was too small in regards to the ones in the background, So I used tracing paper to make some adjustments.
Tracing Paper Adjustments |
I made the hand larger and also foreshortened it a bit. After I made some other adjustments I pieced together all the separate elements in photoshop and then sketched what would be my final piece.
Digital Sketch |
I ended up looking at it for a while and decided I hated all the black space in the foreground. The robot eye was off center and honestly I thought it just looked kind of lazy with all the black space in the crevices of the robot.
Final Adjustments |
The changes definitely pushed the piece farther, I also cropped it to get rid of that gross white space on the right.
Final Inks |
These are my final inks which I did with microns and some pens I got off of JetPen.

Inktober
I've been participating in Inktober this month, as are many of my classmates. Between class, work, finishing my 24 hour comic (which I'll post later), and all the other stuff, I've been having less and less time each day to do these little doodles.
I mean, it's all practice in good fun. Not like I'm planning on getting a gig off an Inktober sketch.
I just think if I had more time for one, the quality would go way up.

Broadway Theater Children's Series Posters
For our Senior Illustration Class we were designing posters for the Broadway Theater Children's Series. Unfortunately, none of mine got picked. Though the director said that this was the best batch of art they had received from our School, and it was really hard to narrow down. Congrats to my other Classmates who got picked.

Lasso Tool Practice
I use the Lasso Tool for almost all my work, but I've never used the lasso tool exclusively from start to finish.

Post Overload
So here is allllll the stuff I've been doing lately.
All this stuff has actually since been inked, which means I have to scan it again anyway.
This I did a bit ago, but I'm not content with him just floating there. I have an idea for a background, I just have to get around to it.
Finally bothered to try the lasso/airbrush. I think it'll look nicer if I had something smaller to work with.

Both of these were done super recently after I attained some new photoshop brushes. Testin' em out.

Dragonborn
I have actually been doing things regardless of my lack of posts. Most of it is in a sketchbook, but I'm getting around to more stuff this month due to the lack of Video Games in July.

TINY BIRD
I got some new photoshop brushes and was just screwin' around.
I didn't know I know I knew how to paint!
Sam Nielson is a great influence of mine so lets hope for more of this stuff in the future.

Project Binge
So here's all the stuff I've done in the last few weeks. Now that the semester is coming to an end, I'll be able to work on all the side projects I want to do, which I have a whole list.
For a Calendar Project. I got January. The theme was "Oddities", which I wasn't crazy about, but this came out pretty nice.
This is the "car" that my previous space pizza man would have driven/flown. A definite upgrade style-wise in just a short time.
For Anatomy we had to have a Figure-in-Motion. I think this came out great, the colors are nice thanks to James Gurney's Color wheel.
My Illustration Studio class has been really Graphic Design based, which is whatever. Right now I'm working on an animation based on this Ad, which I'll probably post when I'm finished with it.
Finally, here are the finished pencils for a project I'm working on with a comic book artist for my mentorship.
Once I'm finished with it I'll probably post the whole process.

\m/
A self portrait for digital painting.
Clearly I'm not this punk rock, but the project was to incorporate some kind of "secret." It's not that I wish I was more like this, I just don't have the capacity to be this metal.

Basements are Creepy, too.
I had to make a narrative portrait, got some inspiration from a creepy guy on Banshee. So mysterious!
